Belmont United Methodist Church Feeding Program: Non-perishable food items donated by our members on the first Sunday of each month are given to the food pantry at Belmont United Methodist Church.
Micah Partnership with Westover Hills Elementary School: Members of our church volunteer at Westover Elementary as tutors, classroom helpers, lunch buddies, readers, and birthday party helpers. For more information or to volunteer, call the church office.
Emergency Shelter: On the third Thursday evening of each month, we provide supper for the approximately 35 residents of the Emergency Shelter on Grace Street. The suppers, which consist of an entrée, a vegetable and/or salad, bread, fruit, a simple dessert, and soft drinks, are prepared by individuals, families, or groups within our church and are delivered to the shelter by 6: 00 p.m. Anyone or any group who is interested in preparing and delivering a meal should contact the church office.
Centenary UMC: An established group of volunteers works with the lunch program at Centenary UMC in downtown Richmond. Once a month this group goes to Centenary where the volunteers cook and serve lunch to the clients of the Downtown Ministries.
United Methodist Volunteers in Mission, or UMVIM enables individuals and local churches to become directly involved in mission by sending short-term (one to three weeks) groups to selected sites and States. In the past a church member has volunteered with several medical teams in Honduras.
United Methodist Committee on Relief, or UMCOR, is part of the General Board of Global Missions of the United Methodist Church. Its current ministries include aiding refugees, providing relief in disaster areas, and confronting the challenges of world hunger.
